The board members serve a two year term, and can be re-elected. The Board votes on the acceptance of new members. The maintenance of the database is covered by the editorial office, headed by Sylvia Lukas.
Currently the members of the board consists of:
Cédric Sarazin, has been Director of Development & Strategy for Groupement des Cartes Bancaires "CB" since 2000. With 8 billion transactions annually, CB is the leading European Card Payment Scheme.
Within Cartes Bancaires CB, his Division brings together research & development, product marketing, European & International projects, relationships with Retail & Consumer Associations as well as the Communication Department.
Within the French Banking Federation (FBF), Cédric Sarazin chairs the Cards Group and he also represents the FBF in the Cards Working Group of the European Payment Council (EPC) since 2002.
Within the EPC, he is also Chairman of the EPC Card Fraud Prevention Task Force and deeply involved in the SEPA Card Standardisation work.
After a doctorate in management and a training as engineer in statistics, Cédric Sarazin began his career in 1990 in Tokyo as Marketing General Manager for SPOM Japan, company specialized in promoting and selling chip card solutions in Japan. In 1993, he is appointed Chip Card Product Marketing Manager for Bull CP8 in France. Between 1995 and 2000, he holds the position of New Technologies Manager for Europay International in Belgium (now MasterCard Europe), in charge of promoting of new technologies in payments (EMV chip cards, internet payments...).
Since 2009 Alain Dietrich works for Bank-Verlag GmbH and since 2010 as the Division Manager for Cards. Together with his team, he is responsible for the entire value chain starting from software development, management of the applications up to product development and the marketing to the member banks of the “Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V. (BdB).
As a subsidiary of the Bundesverband deutscher Banken e.V., the Bank-Verlag is engaged in a number of committees working on the development of national card schemes. Already since 2003, Alain Dietrich worked in various committees of the DK – Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft, the BdB and the MasterCard Deutschland e.V. developing primarily the German card business and working on the establishment of mobile and internet based payment systems.
Alain Dietrich holds a university degree as Master of Business Administration. Already during his studies in 1993, he started his career with American Express where in the end he set up the direct sales channel for Germany. In 2000 he started working for Dresdner Bank, heading up the card business until 2009. During this time he also led the working group “link initiative” which coordinated product developments across the companies of the Allianz Group. In addition, he consulted and was involved in a number of bank constitution projects in CEE Countries and in India and accompanied preparatory market studies in the decision process.
More than 20 Years of Passion for Payment Solutions
Christian Schmitt started his career in the payment industry with American Express in 1990. During 10 years he occupied different sales positions and at the end he was Sales Manager for Strategic & Key Accounts.
In 2000 he moved to card.etc as Member of the Board responsible for acquiring partners and strategic partnerships.
Since 2002 Christian has been working with First Data International. As Director Client Relations & Product Management he is now in charge of the issuing business for Germany and Switzerland.
The PayComm knowledge data base has always been an important source for professional know how.
Sylvia Lukas has been involved in the card acquiring and card issuing business in Germany for the past 20 years.
She started her professional caree with Olivetti S.A. in Milan, Italy. Back in Germany, she worked as sales manager for Citicorp as well as Lufthansa AirPlus.
Sylvia Lukas published her first book on the German payment industry in 1995. Since 1995 she has worked as an independent consultant, primarily for banks, both national and international, addressing market analysis and acquiring strategies.
Sylvia Lukas is the founder of the PayComm Association. PayComm was founded in 2003 as a knowledge library for the payment industry. Sylvia Lukas is the Managing Director as well as head of the editorial office.
Sylvia Lukas holds a Master Degree in Translation for English and Spanish from Heidelberg University.
